Whitebox Playtest Feedback (Xiaowen)
For the feedbacks we received, many people mention that the scaling of the environment is too spaced out. We would be placing more assets later to fill the layout, making it feel less empty. For the white boxing, I did the area outside of the houses but inside of the forest. The area of the village is seem to be too big compare to the forest. We would adjust the sizing. I would recreate a much higher gate or walls and shrunk in area it surrounded. More fences, woods, tables, and any other things will be add later into the layout.
The volume of the footsteps sound is comment by playtesters to be too high and distract the player's attentions. We would adjust the volume of the sound to make sure it feels better, and more sounds would be add to our game later on. Other thing that people suggest on is to add up and down movement for the camera. When I playtesting our game, sometimes it is hard to see everything without looking up, especially when player inside the houses, views are somehow blocked. I do feel like the camera is a little too tilt down, we might just give freedom for the camera movement, allowing player to look up and down will let player see the environment more in details. I also feel we need to adjust our player control for our game. I realize the player is jumping way too high that I can jump over the walls. Since the environment is big for exploration, add a running or speed up mechanics for the player might be interesting.
