Final Blog Post (Xiaowen)

Finally, our game Orphy’s Quest comes to the end of development. Our team put in a lot of effort for creating this game. All the works are worthy of a great experience during the process. We collaborate to solve problems. My role in this project is mainly the audio design, but I also help with putting in some of the art assets and the UI for the menu. As responsible for the audio design, I find, import, and edit all the sound effect clips and background music. I find as many sound clips as I can and edit the audio clips to make sure all sounds are well corporate into the game. I like what I did with the changing in different background music when players enter different areas. This was giving me a lot of problems like making the right trigger volume to cover up all the areas, how to have the music smoothly transfer from one to another, how to play the music I want in that specific area, etc. I am glad I figured it out with all the time I put into it. The transition of the music is commented very well done by my teammates. I was also glad that all the sound effects seem to be a good fit and add engaging experiences for the game, and my teammates all satisfied with all the sound effects. I think I did a great job in making the roads and fences in the scene that I spend a lot of time putting all the parts together, they match with the overall art style of the game. One other thing I think I am successful in making the UI of the menu scene. The UI effectively guides the player on what to do and explains the mechanics of the game.

For a future project, I want to work more on polishing the sound effects in the game. Like having 3D effects where the player walks closer to a specific area, the music would play louder and vice versa. I want to work on having more variations for the sound effects, such as having intense attack music when the player encounters enemies. Another thing I want to improve on is making the UI system for the audio, for example, let the players adjust the volume or let them choose the background music they want. I think this will make the game more engaging. I also want to learn more about Pro Builders to improve my work, since I use this tool for the fences, roads, and also the polygon collider. So, I can create more and better game objects for different uses for the future game. All in all, it was an excellent experience creating this game. I enjoy the process and have fun with all the communication with my awesome teammates.
