Open Beta Feedback (Jiaxin)


Having non-game developers playtest through out game was really effective in finding many aspects that can be improved. Most of the sound and art assets was said to be incorporated well (Xiaowen and Ashley will talk more about it). There are some game mechanics can be changed. There was a wide variation of comments dealing with the fighting mechanic. Some said it was too easy, and some said it was alright. Most of the people said the narrative is guided well with the quest dialogue. Some commented it would be great to have other weapons rather than just shoot bullets which I will definitely try make later on when I am more experienced in scripting.

The changes I will be making based on the feedback is to increase the attack detection range of the goblins and increase the AI speed so it would make the game more difficult. I might consider another attack functionality like throwing a spear (if there is time).  I will also increase the time between attacks for the player since someone commented that the player can shoot bunch of bullets one right after the other. I will also be adding more goblins deeper inside the forest and remove some right outside the village so there is an increase in difficulty depending on where the player is exploring. This will gradually introduce the players to the enemies rather than them being spread out equally.
