Final Blog Post (Ashley Liu)
It has finally come to the end of the development of Orphy's Quest. The journey through this entire development was a very worthwhile experience. Having to work with teammates have made me be aware of the many important responsibilities that come with such as time management and communication with each other. Throughout this game, I think the most successful parts in terms of art assets were the interior layout of the NPC houses, the portal, and the hand drawn images. Being able to freely to arrange the interior to match the respective quests really tested my interior design skills. I wouldn't have been able to come up with the idea of making the portal from scratch because if it weren't for one of my teammate. That goes to show 2 heads are better than 1. Seeing some of my drawings being used in the game was also really cool. In the future, I wish to create a simple game using only assets I made myself. For future projects, there are many things I want to improve on. Animation and the particle systems are 2 major ones. After a long struggle of figuring out how to get one simple standing idle animation working, I wish to be better with them so I can include more animations to make characters more lifelike and interactive. I still have trouble understanding how the particle system works so I wish to improve on those so I can create better custom particle systems in the future. All in all, even with all these difficulties, it was a fun time and a well-crafted game was created.
